Intended learning outcomes

The students will acquire the following specific knowledge and transferable skills:

  1. Recognize and master the fundamental concepts related with metal transition complexes and distinguish their different reactivities;
  2. Identify the main classes of metal transition homogeneous catalysts and their characterization methods;
  3. Recognize and describe the main processes with industrial interest (commodity and fine chemicals) based on metal transition homogeneous catalysts: carbonylation, hydroformilation, hydrogenation, polymerization, oxidation, asymmetric catalysis, cross coupling reactions, alkene metathesis, etc.;
  4. Develop the student critical thinking in the area of metal transition homogeneous catalysts, based on the knowledge of the tools for compounds characterization, reactions monitorization and the choice criteria for catalysts in a known process;
  5. Knowledge on the recent methodologies for more sustainable processes.
